Donegal Deputy slams judge for “Neanderthal men” travellers comment

Donegal Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has described comments by an Athlone District Court judge in which he described Travellers as “Neanderthal men” as utterly disgraceful
Deputy MacLochlainn has called on the judge to apologise
He says anti-traveller racism in all forms is unacceptable in Ireland, and it is mind boggling to think that Justice Seamus Hughes would think ethnic slurs tolerable in the Courts.
The Sinn Fein representative says legislation for a Judicial Council, to hold judges accountable, must be progressed immediately:
