The Good Friday Implementation Committee has been urged to do all it can to make sure the construction of the A5 remains a priority for both the Northern and Irish Governments.
The Mayors of Derry, Donegal, Strabane and Omagh attended a meeting of the committee today in Dublin with all the other districts and boroughs along the A5 route represented.
Two sections of the A5 will progress shortly; a third section is on hold due to the Irish government significantly downscaling a previous funding commitment.
Among those addressing the committee was the Donegal County manager Seamus Neely – he highlighted the importance of the A5 from a safety perspective:
