Derry desperately needs funding for social housing – Cllr Hassan

Claims by the Social Development Minister in the North that there is no need for more social housing funding for Derry have been branded a ‘disgrace’.
Minister Nelson McCausland was warned that there were cases of two and three families in Derry sharing single homes because of the social housing shortage in the city.
The latest figures reveal that the number of families and single people on waiting lists for housing is 3,187, up 425 from May this year.
The number of new social houses due to be built in Derry over the next three years meanwhile stands at 551.
Derry City Cllr Tony Hassan says the situation is now as bad as it was in the 1960’s and 70’s….
