Praise as Brolly donates kidney to ill clubmate

Tributes are being paid to TV pundit and former Derry GAA player Joe Brolly, who is recovering in a London hospital after donating a kidney to a fellow member of St Brigid’s club in Belfast.
Both Mr Brolly and Shane Finnegan coach an Under 12’s team on which their sons play.
In a statement on the club’s website, Mr Brolly said he had been honoured to have been in the position to help Shane, who’s been waiting for a transplant for over six years. Mr Brolly said when he heard that the only possibility of a transplant was through a live donor he contacted Mr Finnegan’s medical team, and the operation was carried out at Guy’s Hospital in London last Wednesday.
Mr Brolly, a barriester by profession, is a regular analyst on RTE, and also writes a column for a number of papers, including the Derry Journal.
