Scrapping of Town Councils will be huge blow to Buncrana – Cllr Crossan

A Buncrana Town Cllr has said that it will be a huge blow to the town if as expected, town councils are to be scrapped.
The Minister for the Environment is expected to formally confirm in the near future that Donegal’s four town councils, as well as those around the country, are to be phased out and replaced.
Cllr Nicholas Crossan, who is a past president of the AMAI, has been one of the leaders of the national campaign to save town councils.
He says Ireland is already under-represented at a local level, and he says cutting town councils will make very small savings….
