25 years today since the Strabane flood

Today marks 25 years since the Strabane flood.
On the 22 October 1987 the town was left devastated after the watetwall collapsed when the River Mourne burst it’s banks.
Many homes and businesses were destroyed as a result.
In the aftermath of the flood a new flood defence wall was then built.
Cllr James O Kane, was Chair of Strabane District Council at the time of flood, he says he can remember how the community came together at the time….
