Increase in calls to youth centre following Erin Gallagher tragedy

The funeral has taken place this morning of Erin Gallagher, the 13 year old Finn Valley college student from Ballybofey who took her own life on Saturday last.
It’s believed she had been the victim of cyber-bullying on social network sites.
Counselling services will be available at the school for parents and students today as part of a phased response, which will also see help provided when students return next Monday after the mid-term break.
Students and parents are also being encouraged to avail of the services of the Donegal Youth Information Centre.
Martin Keeney, Youth Information Officer, says they have seen an increase in calls in recent days – he says their studies show the problem of cyber-bullying is widespread:
