70% fall in Donegal road deaths since 2007

Figures published by the Road Safety Authority show the Donegal is one of the best performing counties in the country when it comes to reducing road deaths, with a 70% fall between 2007 and 2012.
Over the five years, Leitrim, Laois, Kildare, Monaghan and Clare showed the biggest reduction in road deaths. Cavan was the only county to record an increase in the level of fatalities.
RSA Chief Executive Noel Brett says the reduction in road deaths in nearly every county in Ireland shows just what can be achieved when communities come together and say, ‘enough is enough’.
