It is estimated around 80 per-cent of the Gaeltacht primary schools across the country have four teachers or less.
The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Education and Social Protection will meet today to consider pupil/teacher ratios in small Gaeltacht schools today.
There are worries among communities that these schools are particularly vulnerable to changes in the pupil-teacher ratio’s which were announced in the 2012 budget.
