Concern over threats and intimidation from travellers at Ballybofey car park – Cllr McGowan

PatrickmcgowanA local councillor has stated his concern over the ongoing situation at the Supervalue carpark in Ballybofey, where a large group of travellers parked up yesterday afternoon.
Speaking to Highland Radio this afternoon, Cllr Patrick McGowan stated that staff in the local businesses were threatened along with members of the public. A number of business were forced to close early yesterday evening and brought in extra security to protect their premises overnight.
Gardai stated that the large group was expected to move on earlier this morning however only a number have done so this lunchtime.
It is understood the same group of caravans were asked to leave Donegal Town earlier yesterday.
Cllr McGowan has urged the Gardai to increase their presence as the situation contiues…
