Workers at ESB say there will be no disruption to customer supply over the Christmas period as result of a vote in favour of industrial action.
Staff last night voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action in a row over their company pension scheme.
The row centres on the companies plan to pay a dividend to governemnt following the payment of 78 million euro to the state earlier this year.
Unions argue that the payments are eating into the workers pension scheme.
Brendan Ogle, secretary of the ESB group of unions, says we’ll find out on Friday oif the workers plan to mount strike action:
“Next Friday the group of unions will meet as a body and consider the result. They’ll consider how to give affect to the member’s mandate. We will see how it goes from then.”
