The National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church is to publish its audits of eight church entities

logo_header5The National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church is to publish its audits of eight church entities today. It will also look at the response by Christian Brothers to allegations of child sexual abuse in day schools over the past 38 years.
The audit reports are the fourth instalment made by the Irish Catholic Church’s Irish child protection watchdog.
Drawing from church files, the report is set to look at how the clergy dealt with complaints made since 1975 while also outlining current plans for protecting children now and in the future.
The audits are also set to reveal how the Kiltegan Brothers dealt with Father Eugene Greene, who was jailed for sexually abusing 26 boys in Co. Donegal between 1965 and 1992. Greene served with the Kiltegan Brothers for ten years in Nigeria before returning to the diocese of Raphoe in 1965.
The reports are expected to be published on the diocesan websites around now and there will also be various helplines attached for those affected by the content of the report.
