Gardai say they’re reviewing a decision to strike out a drink-driving case after a checkpoint was held to be unlawful.
A Donegal driver who admitted drinking nine pints of beer the night before getting behind the wheel walked free from Letterkenny District Court yesterday.
His solicitor successfully argued that the document authorising the checkpoint listed three different townlands, and was therefore illegal.
It’s now feared hundreds of similar cases will be challenged and Assistant Commissioner John Twomey says they’re looking into it………….
