A man arrested after a disturbance outside a meeting of Bundoran town councillors on Monday has appeared in court on a public order offence.
Thomas McNulty, who is husband of one of the councillors, Florence Doherty, has been charged with insulting behaviour.
Garda Helen Munnelly told Dungloe District Court that 55-year-old McNulty, from Main Street, Bundoran, was arrested in the town’s Drumacrin area at 4.30pm yesterday.
She said he was taken to Ballyshannon Garda station and made no reply when cautioned. He refused to sign station bail.
McNulty told Judge Paul Kelly that he would like the case to be put back for hearing.
He said he didn’t believe there was any evidence and he disagreed with the charge. That’s why he refused to sign station bail.
He told the court: “I have no difficulty in attending court, but I am looking for a copy of the evidence to be forwarded to me.”
He agreed to sign a bail bond in court and the hearing was adjourned to Ballyshannon District Court on February 21.
