A former Irish soldier has pleaded guilty at Derry Crown Court to biting a man’s nose during an unprovoked assault in Derry last year.
25-year-old Barry Fitzgerald, from Doire House, Carrigans admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The incident happened outside a fast food takeaway on 14 April 2013.
Fitzgerald, who has resigned from the Irish army, will be sentenced in June.
