Second endangered turtle washed up on Co Donegal coastlline

turtle2A second rare, endangered turtle has washed up on Co Donegals coastline.
A loggerhead turtle washed up on Glencolmcille beach, it’s being treated for hypothermia at Exploris Aquarium in Portaferry, County Down.
It is believed the turtle was blown off course, swapping the warmth of the Gulf Stream for the colder waters of the North Atlantic.
It has been 20 years since the aquarium has cared for a loggerhead turtle.
A spokesperson for the aquarium says said the turtles body temperature had dropped significantly, due to the length of time he had spent in cold waters.
It’s hoped the turtle will make a speedy recovery.
