Lecturers at Letterkenny Institute of Technology staged a lunchtime protest today highlighting concerns over funding and the quality of education.
It was part of a series of protests across the country to highlight a 36% cut in funding over the past eight years. At the same time, the TUI says, staff numbers were cut, while the student intake increased.

TUI Vice President Joanne Irwin attended today’s Letterkenny protest.
She says while today’s protest was a designed so as not to disrupt student education or college administration, ballot papers are being issued today ahead of possible strike action.
She says the Institutes of Technology are at a crossroads………
