Health Minister Leo Varadkar has responded to a plea from the Save our Services committee for a meeting to discuss the proposed removal of long stay beds from three community hospitals in Donegal.
In an e-mail received by the committee last evening, Minister Varadkar says he is referring the letter to Junior Minister Kathleen Lynch, who has responsibility for the community hospital sector.
Committee Chairperson Fr John Joe Duffy is disappointed at the response……..
Text of Minister Varadkar’s e-mail –
“Thank you for your recent correspondence inviting me to meet with you to discuss the decision to downgrade Residential care units and longterm beds.
I have passed it on for the attention of Minister of State, Ms Kathleen Lynch, to whom the Government has delegated responsibility for Older People and Social Care. Please accept her reply as Minister on these matters”.
