Appeal for information after masked gang attack car in Derry

 

Police at Strand Road are appealing for information about an incident in which a group of men caused damage to a car.
On Friday, March 4, two men were in a black Vauxhall Astra at Foyle Road when their route was blocked by another car, a dark Volkswagen Passat.
Two men got out of the Passat and attacked the Astra. One of them had an iron bar or baseball bat, the other had a machete.
The front passenger was about 6ft tall of a thin build and was wearing a snood covering his face and his hood was up. The rear drivers’ side passenger was shorter and wearing a blue hoody, scarf covering his face, hood up.
The Astra driver managed move off, but the Passat followed the victim and the route taken was Foyle Road City bound, Lower Bennet Street, Abercorn Road, Lecky Flyover, Rossville Street, Great James Street, and Strand Road. The cars collided a number of times before the Astra driver was able to make his escape.
