A former Donegal County Councillor is backing calls from the community on Arranmore for a respite care unit to be set up on the island.
There have been on-going concerns that elderly people from the island who require respite care are transferred to facilities that can be up to 50 miles away.
Consequently, patients feel removed from their locality, while visits from friends and family are limited.
Donegal Islands Committee member Seamus Rogers says people should be adequately cared for in their own area………
