Latest crime statistics for County Donegal show a significant increase in drink driving, public order and possession of drugs offences.
The statistics from the CSO cover the first three months of 2016.
There was a 26% increase in the number of people caught drink driving in the first Quarter of 2016 when compared to the same period last year with 78 people detected over the limit.
There was a big increase in public order and other social code offences – up 26% to 312 year on year. There was a smaller increase in the possession of drugs for personal use – up 5 to 43.
The number of sexual offences fell by 15%, recorded burglaries fell from 80 to 55 while there was also a drop in threats to murder,assaults and harassment.
Incidents of disorderly conduct soured by over 20% with 276 recorded incidents in the first three months of 2016.
