Ryan Phillippe has strongly denied accusations of domestic violence from his ex-girlfriend Elsie Hewitt.

Hewitt was granted a short-term temporary order of protection against the Secrets and Lies star back in July over allegations that he physically attacked her. She has since filed a civil lawsuit against Phillippe, seeking $1 million in damages.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office have since confirmed that Hewitt also filed a police report, but that no charges would be filed in this case.

“The City Attorney’s Office has deferred this matter following an investigation by the LAPD,” a spokesperson told People when news of Hewitt’s suit broke Tuesday (September 19).

“After a thorough review, the matter was set for a City Attorney office hearing, during which both parties were present, detailed the incident, were advised on the law and given guidance as to how to avoid similar incidents in the future. No further action has been scheduled following our office hearing.”

Hewitt, a 21-year-old model, addressed her lawsuit and subsequent media coverage in a statement shared on her own Instagram account on Monday (September 18).
