Taoiseach accused of fudging issue of reopening short stay ward


The Taoiseach has been accused of fudging the issue of providing additional funding for Letterkenny University Hospital to reopen the Short Stay Ward.
A funding request of €1.8 million was submitted by management at the hospital last summer which would reopen the ward, increase bed capacity by 19 and employ extra staff.
The Taoiseach told Deputy McConalogue in the Dail yesterday that he had no answer in relation to Letterkenny but instead, continued to list a number of hospitals in the country that are to increase in bed capacity over the coming months.
