The RNLI says its “Respect the Water” partnership with the GAA is an invaluable method of spreading awareness of the need for care in the water.
At the weekend, a Tyrone family who were rescued from the water last year in Bundoran took to the pitch in front of over 60,000 fans at last weekend’s All-Ireland Hurling semi-final between Wexford and Tipperary to raise awareness of the risks of drowning and to encourage people to enjoy the water safely.
10 year old Cahir McCallion presented the sliothar to the referee before the match, he and his 8 year old sister Beth were rescued when they got into difficulty last May.
Shane Smyth of Bundoran RNLI says it was a huge success…………..
