It’s been revealed that a primary school in Donegal has a record class size with 42 pupils in one classroom.
The Donegal school is one of three across the country to have a record class size in primary education, with the other two in Galway.
It comes as new figures show that one in five primary school students are in an overcrowded classroom.
The Department of Education recommends that class sizes don’t exceed 25 students.
However, almost half of primary schools have at least one classroom of 30 pupils or more.
