Election 2020: Record share of women running for seats

 

Every constituency in the country has at least one woman running for election for the very first time.
There’s only one woman running in the Donegal constituency – Aontu candidate Ms. Mary T. Sweeney.
At least 30 percent of a party’s candidates in general elections must be women – and this will rise to 40 percent in 2023.
Fine Gael are over the quota on 30.5 percent, while Fianna Fail sit on 31 percent.
