O’Doherty brothers say they will reflect and plan for the future

The O’Doherty Brothers say they and their employees will take a period of time to plan for the future after a fire badly damaged their coffin manufacturing business on Railway Street in Strabane yesterday.

While the cause is being investigated witnesses say the premises was struck by lightning just before the blaze broke out.

In a statement today, Manus and Charles O’Doherty say they are relieved that no one was hurt or injured in the fire.

They say O’Doherty & Sons Ltd has been a part of Railway St, and the fabric of Strabane since 1908 and it’s sad day for them to see so much of our family history destroyed by this fire.

They praise the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service for attending the fire, for getting it under control, for saving neighbouring properties and for protecting our community.

They also express gratitude to their employees, customers, suppliers, the public, and local businesses for their many messages of support.

They says they will take the next few days to reflect on what happened and plan for the future along with their dedicated and hardworking staff.
