Donegal woman dies following Mayo road collision

It’s emerged that a woman in her 90s who died following a crash in County Mayo yesterday was from Donegal.

Katie Doherty from Laghey was a passenger in one of two cars that collided on the N17 close to the Kilkelly turnoff at 5.50pm.

Three women and two children were taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for their injuries, but Mrs Doherty later passed away.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Witness Appeal – Fatal Road Traffic Collision – N17, Kilkelly, Co. Mayo – 15th August 2022
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision in County Mayo on Monday 15th August 2022.
 
At approximately 5:50pm, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving two cars on the N17 at Cloonturk, Kilkelly, Co. Mayo.Three women and two juveniles were taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for their injuries. One of those injured, a woman in her 90s has since passed away. 

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time with camera (including dash cam) footage, are asked to make this available to Gardaí.
