September 8th has been designated “Love Donegal” Day

The #LoveDonegal campaign will return on Thursday September 8th 2022, building on the success of previous campaigns and public interest.

The day is being held just two weeks in advance of Donegal Connect, a 3 day festival taking place from 23rd to 25th September celebrating Donegal’s connections right across the world.

Donegal County Council says last years ‘Love Donegal’ campaign reached over 17 million people across the world, and had Donegal trending for several days across social media outlets.

The campaign also won the 2021 LAMA Award for ‘Best Innovation for attracting inward investment’.

This year, the campaign centres on celebrating the art and creativity of Donegal and organisers of the event, Donegal County Council, want everyone to get involved and showcase their love for Donegal creatively. Whether its painting, drawing, sculpting or singing, music, dancing, or any other form of art.

People are being asked to post their art on social media, with the hashtag ‘Love Donegal’ on Thursday September 8th.

Cathaoirleach Cllr. Liam Blaney is asking Donegal people everywhere to participate in this campaign, to showcase Donegal’s history of creativity.

He says it’s also an opportunity to highlight what will be happening during Donegal Connect, a 3 day celebration which includes the Tip O’Neill Irish Diaspora Awards Ceremony.
