17 year old arrested in Derry on suspicion of attacking ambulance workers and police

A 17 year old male is in police custody in Derry following reports of an assault on two Northern Ireland Ambulance Service personnel.

Police say at approximately 8.30 yesterday evening, police attended the Rossnagalliagh area of the city following a request for assistance from the Ambulance Service.

On arrival, an aggressive male was located, with the ambulance personnel reporting they’d been repeatedly assaulted while attempting to assess his condition.

Police say a 17 year old male was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assaulting an ambulance worker, and resisting police. Whilst in custody, he attempted to assault a police officer, and was further arrested for assault on police.

Police say the emergency services work hard every day to serve our communities. Incidents such as this are unacceptable and should be condemned by all.
