Donegal artists receive grants through pilot scheme

A number of artists in Donegal have been awarded grants through the once-in-a-generation Basic Income for the Arts Pilot Scheme.

2,000 artists and creative arts workers were awarded grants across the country, 56 in Donegal, as part of a three year pilot scheme.

Recipients will receive €325 per week, paid on a monthly basis, as part of a research project on the impact of a basic income.

Green Party Deputy Leader and Minister for the Arts, Deputy Catherine Martin says the pilot recognises the need for security and supports to be in place in order to retain the abundance of talent and experience in Ireland.
