Families of Reuven Simon and Joseph Sebastian release statement

The families of the two teenagers who died after getting into difficulty at Enagh Lough in Co Derry have expressed their appreciation for the kindness, love, support and prayers received during this difficult time.

16 year olds Reuven Simon and Joseph Sebastian passed away on Monday August 29th and were laid to rest at a joint funeral last Friday.

In a statement, the families say they have drawn enormous strength, from the sympathy and support received from Derry and beyond and for that they say they will always be grateful.

They have also thanked all those involved in the search, rescue and recovery operation.

In conclusion, both families say they hope some good can come from the tragedy by ensuring better and safer management of all lakes and waterways, and educating people of the very stark dangers of water.

In doing so, they say they hope other families will never have to suffer the avoidable death of a loved one.
