Ireland generated over one million tonnes of packaging waste in 2020, for the fourth year in a row.
The new EPA figures show Ireland has met its targets for recycling glass, paper, cardboard and metal.
However, plastics are still an outlier, with 29 per cent of plastic packaging waste recycled in 2020.
That’s a margin off the EU target of 50 per cent by 2025.
