Council urged to source funding for Glenswilly flood prevention measures

The Council has been urged to source funding of €120,000 to install long term flood relief measures to prevent ‘outrageous’ flooding in Glenswilly.

During a recent period of heavy rain, flooding caused the Letterkenny to Fintown Road at Glenswilly school to be washed away.

Cathaoirleach of Letterkenny Milford MD Cllr Donal Mandy Kelly raised the issues at a recent meeting and said this road must be treated as a priority as the previous flooding ripped pipes out of the ground.

The council says immediate repairs and restoration following the flooding have been completed and they are currently seeking funding sources to do works on a long term solution.

Cllr Kelly says the flooding was outrageous and Council must find the money urgently to prevent a repeat of the flooding..
