Donegal CCC to discuss alledged sledging incident

An alleged sledging incident during one of the Donegal Intermediate Championship semi final’s last weekend is to be discussed at the next meeting of the Donegal CCC.

The incident happened during Naomh Columba’s win over Fanad Gaels last Sunday in Ballybofey where a Noamh Columba player allegedly verbally abused one of the opposing players which resulted in a confrontation between both sides.

The sledging claim was reported to the referee on the day and the Fanad club have since contacted the Donegal CCC over what took place.

In a statement on Wednesday, the club said:

“CLG Ghaeil Fhánada wish to confirm that an incident of profound verbal abuse against one of our players was reported to team management at half time during the Intermediate Championship semi final on Sunday, September 18th.

While club officials reported this allegation to the referee and sideline officials, the club have subsequently made the decision to correspond with Donegal CCC in relation to the incident.

The Gaeil Fhánada player in question has the unequivocal support of the club. ”
