Drag queen George Ward, otherwise known as Cherry Valentine, has died at the age of 28.
The artist appeared on the second series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, before fronting the BBC documentary Gypsy Queen and Proud.
His family have released a statement saying his death is “heart-wrenching” and a “profound shock”.
Tributes have been flooding social media, many noting his kind nature and work as a mental health nurse prior to his career in entertainment.
This is the third of Ru Pauls queens to pass away, with Sahara Davenport’s death in 2012 and Chi Chi DeVayne more recently in 2020 from pneumonia complications.
