Matthew McCole claimed victory on the judges scores after his quarter final contest was stopped during Round 2 after he sustained a cut to his head after a clash of heads at the FISU University World Cup Combat Sports event in Turkey.
Matthew had won Round 1, 10: 9 from all judges showing superior technical ability.
His Hungarian opponent was clearly advised that his only hope was to harass and upset Matthew and disrupt his rhythm. A clash of heads ensued.
The Initial prognosis was that Matthew will be able to box the semi final tomorrow after medical treatment.
