A 23-year-old from County Meath has been killed on the front-line in Ukraine.
Rory Mason enlisted in the International Legion for the Defence of Ukraine at the outset of the war last March.
The Mason family learnt of his death in Kharkiv last Wednesday from the Department of Foreign Affairs, and are currently in the process of repatriating his remains.
Local Councillor Maria Murphy says the community will rally round the family.
