Following on from last December’s very successful Light It Up Letterkenny Tour in which over €4,000 was raised for the Donegal Hospice on a misty Sunday during lock down the Light it Up Christmas Run returns for 2022.
Bernard Gallagher from CBM Signs & Craig Alcorn from Tropical World are planning another Christmas Light Tour of Letterkenny this Sunday Night December 4th with registration opening from 5pm at CBM Signs on the Port Road. (Eircode F92R5DV)
Last year we didn’t know what to expect. We were in Covid lockdown just before Christmas with everything closed we were looking at a dull enough build up to Christmas for everyone both young & old. Craig had just bought a fully functionally Fire Truck as an attraction for Tropical World & he suggested why do we not have a Christmas Light run like the Christmas Tractor Runs that happen every year but with a twist for Letterkenny. Craig just wanted to get his blue light on.
Bernard Gallagher explains that last year we had a great response from something that was only organised a few days in advance. On the night we had just over 90 cars, 90 tractors, 30 lorries, vans, 12 busses & a few motorbikes that provided a great nights entertainment for everyone in the audience.
This year we are looking to do the same a lot of people hadn’t time to get organised & lights fitted but we learned last year the easiest & safest way to light up your vehicle is with battery powered lights & are looking forward to seeing everyone out this year.
This year we are hoping to do the same loop. Leaving CBM signs as soon as everyone has arrived we will go up the Port Road, up the Main Street, out the Neil T Blaney Road, around The Pole Star Road, up the Business Park Link Road to where there will be a short regrouping & half way halt at the Mountain Top & back down past the hospital, around the Station Roundabout & back to CBM Signs.
It is €20 to enter with all proceeds going to the Donegal Hospice. We hope to see you all next Sunday evening. A big thanks to all the people that helped out last year & hopefully this year again especially the Garda bike unit who were brilliant last year.
