Brexit won’t be a barrier to reconciliation in Ireland, according to the European Commission president.

Ursula von der Leyen has been addressing a joint sitting of the Dáil and Seanad to mark 50 years since Ireland joined the EU.

The commission president said there would be no return to a hard border in Ireland – and praised the peace process which has replaced checkpoints with community projects:
