Latest INMO figures show 46 patients awaiting beds at Letterkenny University Hospital this morning, 20 of them on Emergency Department trolleys.

At Sligo University hospital, there were 65 patiets awaiting beds, 42 of them in the ED. That’s a combined North West total of 111. The national figure is 838.

Meanwhile, a former Assistant General Manager at Letterkenny University Hospital has questioned how much of the extra €35 million announced for the hospital at the end of last year will go towards improving services and addressing the current crisis.

On today’s Nine til Noon Show, Paddy Rooney said when he announced the extra funding on Highland Radio in December, Minister Donnelly didn’t specify how the money would be spent.

Paddy Rooney believes the money will be almost entirely taken up with funding pay increases and meeting the extra costs in energy, electricity and other utilities………
