Loughrey sisters sign on at Sligo

Inishowen sisters Jodie and Kerri Loughrey have joined Sligo Rovers.

16 year old Jodie is an Irish International at both Under 16 and 17 level and was voted the country’s Player of The Year last year while her older sibling Kerri is also an underage international.

The Buncrana girls are now preparing for the season opener against Shamrock Rovers at The Showgrounds on Saturday March 4th.

Sligo Manager Steve Feeney said: Jodie and her sister Kerri are key signings for us and it’s important that we attract players from the Northwest region as a whole, being the only club in the region to have a side playing in the Women’s Premier Division.’’

Kerri said: ‘’It is a big step up for me and I want to improve myself and help the team get as many results as we can this season.’This is a good opportunity for me and one I couldn’t turn down, having the chance to play Senior Women’s football with a great club like Sligo Rovers.”

Jodie is delighted to have signed for Rovers: ‘’I am really excited to be joining the club today. I am looking forward to being involved in the squad as we play in the Women’s Premier Division this season, which was a big attraction for me.I want to improve as a player and develop and I feel I will be able to do that here at Sligo Rovers.”
