The cost of putting on local shows in An Grianan Theatre could lead to the loss of the annual pantomime in Letterkenny.
The issue was raised this week at municipal district level by Cllr Kevin Bradley, who said there hasn’t been a pantomime in the theatre since 2018, and the issue of cost must be addressed. In 2019, he said the pantomime took place at the Aura Leisure Centre, but his belief is that it should be in the theatre.
Cllr Bradley told the council that the theatre belongs to the people of Donegal, and if this issue isn’t resolved this year, he said, the pantomime tradition in Letterkenny could be lost:
