The Chair of Donegal County Council’s Strategic Planning Policy Committee says members of the council are insisting that the authority’s traditional ‘Family Ties’ policy be maintained in the new County Development Plan.
A debate on the draft plan adjourned earlier this week, with members debating the recommendations of the Planning Regulator.
The regulator is proposing that the existing policy of favouring planning for people with family ties to an area be replaced with a provision that planning be given to applicants with an economic or social link to the area.
Cllr Paul Canning says the council has unanimously agreed to reject that recommendation, and will continue a robust discussion of the recommendations when the special meeting reconvenes on Monday:
