Busy week for ATU Donegal sides

It’s been a busy week for ATU Donegal with teams in GAA, Basketball and Soccer taking to action.

On Wednesday evening, the gaelic men’s freshers side bowed out of the championship at the quarter final stage, losing 1-12 to 1-11 to Ulster University Jordanstown at the Donegal GAA Centre in Convoy.

Downings man Paddy McElwee scored 1-10 of ATU’s total while St Michael’s man Max Roarty played well for UUJ.

The men’s soccer side are through to the final of the Eustace Shield after their semi final opponents withdrew from the competition.

Shane Byrne’s side were scheduled to play SETU Waterford in Castlebar on Wednesday but the night before the game, Waterford withdrew, handing ATU a place in the final against their north west rival’s ATU Sligo.

There was defeat on Monday for the women soccer team, they lost 3-1 to TUS Midlands in the semi final of the Regan Cup.

There was double success on home court for the ATU Donegal Basketball teams on Tuesday, The men won their Division 1 League encounter with Trinity College Dublin 87-81 and the women beat Queen’s University in Division 2 League 44-33 in the Sports Hall at An Danlann.
