Fifth case of measles confirmed in Ireland

The HSE has confirmed a fifth case of measles in Ireland.

It says appropriate “control measures” have been put in place.

Measles is a highly infectious disease that can cause serious complications, particularly in children under one, pregnant women, and the immunosuppressed.

Over 300,000 people are expected to be eligible for a vaccine under a new programme which is due to be launched next week.
