A Donegal Deputy is calling on the Government to provide upfront grants for those who need to remediate their homes in the face of defective concrete blocks.
Deputy Pearse Doherty has called for the Minister for Housing to change the scheme, stating that despite homeowners having been badly let down, they are trying to engage with it to rebuild their lives.
The Sinn Fein Finance Spokesperson highlighted that those remediating their houses are having to borrow money to start the work and are being hit with significant interest costs.
He says that as the funding will be paid out anyway, it should be done beforehand:
