Greencastle Harbour Breakwater Project to be officially opened on Friday

The Greencastle Harbour Breakwater Project will officially open on Friday.

The €25 million project included the construction of a 150-metre extension to the existing breakwater and the placement of 350,000 tonnes of rock core and armour to help improve the storm shelter characteristics of the harbour, increase the harbour area and provide new berthage.

The breakwater will be officially opened by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marrine, Charlie McConalogue.

Minister McConalogue says the infrastructure development will have a positive impact on the locality and will support economic diversification, vital he says for the growth and sustainability of the wider community directly impacted by Brexit.
