For the first time ever child benefit is being paid to over 18s from today.
The changes kick in for all over 18’s who are still in full time education, or those with a disability.
Its to take account of the fact that most children now start school at the age of 5, meaning many are still in secondary school after the age of 18.
The payments will now continue up to the 19th birthday for those who qualify.
