118 thousand families stand to benefit from the Back to school Clothing and Footwear allowance next month.
Social protection minister Heather Humphries announced the opening of the grant saying €54.2 million has been made available.
The one off payment is made to families who qualify for the grant and will be paid automatically during the second week of July.
